Offa's Dyke runs along the Welsh border all the way from Prestatyn to Chepstow - but don't worry you don't have to do the whole walk in one go. You could just trot around the Old racecourse or clamber up the hill fort to admire the view and think of Guinevere.

If you want to travel at a faster pace Oswestry offers superb cycle routes on or off road. Some are suitable for families with offspring, others for leisure cyclists and a few for the serious hard pedallers.

Ever thought about riding the range? Horse power may make it easier on your legs but if you're out of practice other parts of your anatomy may feel the saddle. Several stables offer riding for both novices and the more experienced. Some B&Bs will also accommodate your horse if you want to bring him with you. oats again!

You can drive off in England and hole out in Wales at llanymynech Golf Club. Oswestry has several other quality courses available but then it is the home of Ian Woosnam.

Of course you could just do what the locals do. Slow down and take time out for a chat.
